The Soul by Lal Ded

The soul, like the moon,
is new, and always new again.
 
And I have seen the ocean
continuously creating.
 
Since I scoured my mind
and my body, I too, Lalla,
am new, each moment new.
 
My teacher told me one thing.
Live in the soul.
 
When that was so,
I began to go naked,
and dance.

A Purple Scarf
Purple her favorite color
Knit, pearl, knit, pearl,
Weaving together in love
Flowing and growing
Beauty and texture emerging.
 
Looping together
Coming united into a scarf
Glancing at the lake
Seeing the waves
Rippling cresting --yet merging to one.
 
Starts multicolored
A yarn that is thick and tough
Meeting a soft purple
Ending with the rough variegated yarn
Connecting a dance of textures.
 
A scarf for my dear mother
Who is a like a scarf to me
Wrapping me with her love.
She warms my being
Her beauty surrounds me
Both inside and out.

Hear the ocean sing
Waves moving up and out
Rising from and with the sea
Yet waves and sea are one

Love is the glue that binds us
Adhering each to each
A vast ocean of true oneness
Whirling oh so deep

Feel this love inside
Moving .... expanding ... flowing
Love.... a mighty ocean
